Dr. Weijermars specializes in analytical modelling and finding the key parameters that control a process or system. The identification of such key parameters led to the introduction of several new non-dimensional numbers:
- Ramberg number (Weijermars & Schmeling, 1986)
- Frac number (Weijermars et al., 2013a)
- Couette-Poiseuille number (Weijermars et al., 2013b)
- Rankine number (Weijermars et al., 2014)
His prior research interests included extensive labwork on the rheology and thermal properties of polymers for tectonic and geodynamic modelling, and detailed field work campaigns in Spain and Saudi Arabia. His work is regularly cited. See Google Scholar.
